Jan Soppe FSA, MAAA Director of Sales and Marketing

Jan has served as SHM’s Director of Sales and Marketing since 2005. She is responsible for bringing new product concepts and distribution approaches to marketing organizations and insurers.

She applies her industry expertise to develop innovative products that give agents and consumers more options as they consider present and future buyer needs. Jan is currently involved in the development of Combo annuity and life products for sale through various distribution channels. She is also working on modular wellness programs that can be incorporated into LTCI, CI and Combo products. Jan is dedicated to improving product quality and access, thereby increasing the number of people who are protected against the catastrophic costs of long-term care and critical illness.

Prior to joining SHM, Jan was President of the AEGON LTC Division from the time it was formed in 1991. In this position, she directed and managed all aspects of the business including product development, sales and marketing, underwriting, claims, and all other management and administrative functions. This included multi-channel distribution of LTC products offered through AEGON’s various wholly-owned subsidiaries.

Jan supported the company’s LTCI line of business when it first launched sales in 1987, when she helped to create many of the innovative features in LTCI products. These included married discount pricing, joint waiver and survivorship benefits, and modular policy filings for use by AEGON subsidiaries in various distribution channels. She has actively supported major LTCI developments such as tax-qualified and comprehensive policies, and implementation of leading-edge cognitive screening and independent care management services.

Prior to the above position, Jan served as Senior Vice President and Actuary for health and LTCI products.
